GREG PANUNTE POWERS TO SPORTSMAN WIN AT HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY

Sniper Alley and Full Service Media presented a full 6 division program at Humberstone speedway Sunday night as 8 huge features filled the program. The full program managed to survive a threat by Mother Nature as she caused a very brief delay.

Headlining the nights card in the Cosco Haulage 25 lap Sportsman main, Aaron Vasas led the first lap before giving the lead to Nick Cupolo. Cupolo and Greg Panunte played a great game of high speed chess as the two 99's said goodbye to the rest of the field with Panunte claiming the hard earned win. Cupolo was next followed by Brad Rouse, Cody McPherson and Mark Dixon rounding out the top 5.

In the Mod Lite North Tour event of 20 laps. Early leader Chris Steele led the first 5 laps only to be pressured into a spin while leading handing the lead to Josh Sliter who would continue his torrid streak to gain the win ahead of Paul Klager, Chris Steele, Randy Hollingshead and Shawn Sliter.

The Mod Lite rained out feature from a month ago of 15 laps saw Chris Steele take the lead from the outset and would do everything in his power to maintain the lead a battle with Josh Sliter. Josh Sliter would lose the handle and his position on the final lap as Steele would pull off the victory. Next in line was Paul Klager, Shawn Sliter, Derek Moore and Randy Hollingshead to round out the top 5.

The regularly scheduled the Ron's Automotive Mini Stocks of 15 laps was lead to the green by Greg Wilson who would lead the first 4 laps only to surrender the lead to Rocco Conte on lap 5 who would gain the victory over Greg Wilson, Brandon Iudiciani, Rob Goulding and Matt Deschamps.

A 1st feature for the Ron's Automotive Mini Stocks was run from a rained out event from a month ago. Austin Wood opened up a healthy lead but it closed as Dillan Sliter came to a halt on the front stretch. Aaron Wiley took the lead on the restart but was placed back 2 spots for jumping on the restart giving the lead back to Wood. Wood would hold off Wiley for his first ever victory. He was followed by Wiley, Jeff Lacharity, Baden Curtis and Greg Wilson.

The Niagara Auto Sales 15 lap feature saw Rick Book pick up his first of the season as Hilary and Greg Haegens were early leaders along with Adam Williams. Book was followed to the checkers by Greg Haegens, Billy Beales, Andy Imbeault and Hilary Haegens to round out the top 5.

The Frontier Auto Dismantler Pure Stock 15 lap feature Mike Greene took the green from the start and would hold off a solid field. Behind Green was Jon Vineski, Dave Larocque, Doug Crawford and Terry Ronning.

The Vintage Racers made an appearance to grace the years past of Humberstone Speedway History and their 15 lap feature was brought to a grinding halt as Doug Fralick rolled off turn 1 but was checked over and drove his car away. Brian Page took the lead from the restart has had major charger on his tail being Doug “Flipper”Fralick who made his way through the 16 car field as Fralick made a great inside pass for the very popular win in the Vintage main. Page was next in line followed by Jason Powers, Al Harju and Jamie Swain. Sportsman Group Al Harju was the winner.

POST RACE NOTES: Former Mini Stock regular Matt Deschamps visited and competed as he was in town as he now make Prince George BC his home and collected a 5th place finish.. And In the Mini Stocks Brandon Iudiciani and Jeff Lacharity failed post race tech. The Street Stocks had the night off to bring in the Mod Lites and Vintage racers and will return next week.
