BICKNELL, DAYMAN, CONLEY AND CURTIS ALL WIN FOR FIRST TIME IN 2010 AT HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY
Tidyman Maintenance and Pt Colborne Laundry presented a 4 division program at Humberstone Speedway Sunday night. Mother Nature played into the hands of Humberstone Speedway and delivered the speedways best surface of the season resulting in 4 new winners for 2010. Pete Bicknell, Jeff Dayman, Kevin Conley and Evan Curtis claimed the victories.
In the 50 Lap Ransomville Speedway Battle of the Border Qualifier for the Young Automotive Professional 358 Modified feature, Rob Pietz and Chad Chevalier led the field to the green with Pietz taking the lead but hard contact between Scott Wood and Mat Williamson and Shayne Pierce were also involved with 1 lap completed. Chevalier using the outside line took the lead on lap 4. Pete Bicknell took over the 3 spot on lap 7 and would use the inside line to challenge Bill Bleich Sr. Bicknell took the 2nd spot on lap 12 and would chase Chevalier and take the lead on lap15. Bicknell would find lap traffic on lap 20 which would nor phase him at all. Chad Brachmann took over the 2nd spot from Chevalier on lap 22. Bicknell would hold a full straight lead on 2nd place Brachmann by lap 30. Bicknell visiting Humberstone for the 1st time in 2010 would show his mastery of the fast 3/10 mile oval to pull off the victory and the Battle Of The Border Qualifier at Ransomville Speedway. July 2 Behind Bicknell was, Brachmann, Brian Stevens, Mike Bowman and Chevalier.
In the 20 lap Brian's Tire Repair Street Stock feature Brian Schmidt lead the field to the green. A fine 2nd place battle with Dave Small and Tyler Anderson with Anderson claiming the spot on lap 9. Jordan Fidler spun over in turn 4 on lap 11. Schmidt would hold the lead on the restart with Kevin Aube and Small but Aube would take the lead on lap 14. Jeff Dayman would sneak through the field and challenge Aube using the inside line to take the lead with a few to go to give Dayman the win. Behind Dayman was Aube, Small, Tyler Anderson and Ed Dmytrow.
The 15 lap Ron's Automotive Mini Stocks was led to the green by Greg Wilson who became challenged by Evan Curtis and Brandon Iudiciani. The yellow flew on lap 6 for Ryan Spoar who spun. On the restart Rob Goulding would add his name to the battle. Lap 9 a 3 wide battle for the lead with Curtis, Greg Wilson and Goulding. Wilson grab onto the lead by lap 10 Aaron Wiley would join the top 3 fray. With 3 to go Wilson got high and Curtis the new leader would hold on for a his first win. Curtis was followed by Aaron Wiley, Goulding, Wilson and Iudiciani.
In the 15 lap Niagara Auto Sales Pro 4 Trucks Adam Williams led from the drop of the green but Greg Haegens took the lead with Kevin Conley on the chase. Conley took the lead on after a lap 2 caution. Conley used the tacky surface to open up a healthy lead by the halfway point. Conley would hold off the field for his first ever victory. Behind Conley followed Imbeault, Haegens, Vanderzanden and Beales.
POST RACE THOUGHTS: To date at Humberstone Speedway, 28 features have been run with 25 different winners. Ron's Automotive Sponsored a Mini Stock Dash For Cash and the winner was Evan Curtis. Bill Bleich Jr unable to make the feature with problems. Up next will be the June 20th program presented by Brian's Tire Repair Night with the BRP Can-Am Late Models paying $1750. to win with a possible $500 Bonus from Isky Cams challenge if the pole-sitter chooses to start tail and pick up the victory. It may be the highest paying event on the BRP Can-Am Series in 2010.
