NIAGARA REGION RACERS AND FANS IN MOURNING

Racers and fans alike are in mourning with the passing of Don "Gramps" Ledingham and and Rudy Huneault. "Gramps" has played a large part in the storied Humberstone and Merrittville histories. He was part of the opening of Merrittville Speedway in 1952 and Humberstone in 57 has a racer. He had a very successful career at both speedways in the Sportsman divisions. Gramps was also inducted into the Merrittville and Humberstone "Gasport" Hall Of Fames. During and after his racing days he was a steady influance on many racers spending much of his time with Rob Ledingham and Kevin Sharpe among many others. His sense of humor always kept everyone in a very good mood and was very popular with everyone who touched his life. The Ledingham family has been around Humberstone and Merrittville for many years Don, Jim, Chuck, Earl and Rob. Rudy Huneault also passed away on the same weekend and was also a big part of Humberstone and Merrittville's past. Besides running a very successful service station in Port Colborne, Rudy was the driving force behind Grandson Greg Panunte's 20+ years of racing which has led to a couple of Greg's Championship seasons in the Sportsman Division. Nephews Mark and Jeff Armstrong also competed in the Bomber division with success years ago and Mark has returned to the Sportsman last year with Rudy's assistance. Please keep the families in your thoughts and prayers.

Rudy and Gramps: Thanks for the fond memories!!!
