Rouse pulls off thriller sportsman win at Humberstone

BRAD ROUSE PULLS OFF THRILLER SPORTSMAN WIN AT HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY SUNDAY NIGHT




John Puhl Memorial and Rankin Construction and the Rankin Cancer Run had the Niagara Region covered and removed of any chance of the rain that was called for to warm up the Pt Colborne area for a great Victoria Holiday Night of 5 divisions at Humberstone Speedway Sunday.




Setting the pace for the 25 lap Cosco Haulage Sportsman were the hard chargers Gregg Rauscher and Adam Leslie Rauscher took the lead closely followed by Leslie. Darrell Farraway made a nice move to take the lead on lap 6 followed by Nick Cupolo and Greg Panunte. The yellow would fly on lap 6 for Tony Cowell. Farraway would re-take the lead and Greg Panunte took the 2nd spot with Cupolo and Brad Rouse. Rouse took the 3rd spot and made his way towards the top and passed Panunte for the lead with Farraway holding him off until the yellow flew on lap 12. Farraway having one of his strongest outings would have to be at his best with Rouse giving it his all as they battled back and forth. A multi car jingle in turn 1 would stop the field on lap 13 again. Farraway and Rouse would continue their battle with Rouse taking the lead on lap 16. Curtis Friesen spun in turn 3 for another yellow. With 16 down Rouse would have his hands full as the cream rising to the front with Panunte and Ryan Susice entering the top 4. Rouse would hold off Ryan Susice for the win followed by Farraway, BJ Willard, and Panunte.




In the 20 lap caution filled Brian's Tire Repair Street Stock feature James Thompson and Ed Dmytrow took the field to the green with Thompson taking the lead. With the field bearing down on the rookie Thompson he was collected and Graham MacKay was also involved. Dmytrow assuming the lead on the restart 2 and 3 wide for the top 10 Kevin Knapp made some hearty moves for 3rd. Lap 6 would have Jaren Israel and Kirk Sherwood get together for a yellow. Dmytrow would see pressure from Kevin Knapp and Billy Bleich with Bleich taking the lead on lap7. Israel and Sherwood decided to meet again on lap 8. Kevin Knapp and Kevin Aube would bring the field to the green again with Knapp leading Bleich, Aube and Jason Fontaine on lap 11 Bleich took the lead only to have a loose bumper fall to slow the field. Bleich would retake the lead on the restart but earlier leader Knapp looped his racer in turn 4. Jordan Fidler spun with 5 to go. Bleich would survived for his 2nd win followed Aube, Fontaine, Dmytrow, and Dayman.




The Ron's Automotive Mini Stock feature went the distance of 15 laps with Carey Gore and Greg Wilson setting the pace. Evan Curtis would take the lead with Pelrine and Aaron Wiley 3 wide. With Pelrine taking the lead on lap 4. Lap 6 would have Wiley playing bumper tag with Pelrine. The yellow flew on lap 6 for contact between Greg Wilson and Ryan Spoar. Wiley took the lead on the lap 7 restart with Pelrine fighting off Rob Goulding who made some nice moves to take 3rd. With 2 to go Wiley looked to open a strong lead only to have Mike Taylor and Baden Curtis collect each other on the front stretch. Wiley would hold off Pelrine, Goulding, Evan Curtis and to round out the top 5







The Niagara Auto Sales Pro 4 Truck 15 lap feature was led to the green by Steve Vanderzanden and Billy Beales with Beales getting a great start. Jeff Mark came to a stop to halt the field on lap3. Greg Haegens made a charge but fell short but Mark fell a victim of the over the hill gang in turn 2. Andy Imbeault made a daring move for the lead with Scott Sherk to take the 2nd spot. Adam Williams spinning over in turn 2. Imbeault chose the outside on the restart and would make it work. Moving into the top 5 would be Kevin Conley and running strong but a super battle up front with Imbeault and Beales side by side. Beales on the inside and Imbeault on the outside with Imbeault becoming the first repeat winner of the season followed by Beales, Conley, Sherk and Greg Haegens.




A fine field of Frontier Auto Dismantler Pure Stocks were led to the green in the feature by Jon Vineski and Jason Coutu with Vineski holding the fort with Larocque on the chase and taking the lap 2 lead. The yellow flew as rookie Tony Berardocco found the 4 turn ditch to slow the field on lap 5. On the restart on lap 6 Larocque resumed in the lead with Doug Crawford and Terry Ronning. Larocque having a very strong outing as the battle was strong for 2nd with Crawford and Ronning but Larocque picking up the win followed by Crawford, Ronning, Issac Pelissero and Sam Iftody.




RACING AFTERTHOUGHTS: A Giant Fireworks display capped off the nights action. As announced at the Speedway during the night, Kenny Schrader will be unable to attend as Kevin Harvick has called upon Schrader's services for a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Event on July 11th. A replacement driver is being sought. Tonight's program also included the naming of the 2010 Miss Humberstone. The Former Miss Humberstone Hollee Cooper will turned over her reign to Carrie Ash who will carry out that honor. A popular Autograph session was held at intermission for the race fans. Up next on May 31st will be Young Automotive Professionals Night with the 358 Mod, Sportsman, Street Stocks Pro 4 Trucks and will also be joined by Merrittville Speedway's J & S Heating and Cooling Mod Lites giving the Mini Stocks the night off.
