Friesen Works High Side To Grab All Canadian Title at Humberstone Speedway

Port Colborne Ontario, August 1st Brian’s Tire Repair presents, The All Canadian Civic Holiday weekend of races. The fans watched the Modifies take to the track with Stewart Friesen coming you of nowhere, claiming the leading over Pete Bicknell in the fifty lap feature grabbing the all canidain title.

Other feature winners of the night were, Tyler Walker in the Micro sprints 15 lap feature, Aaron Vasas in the weekend warrior pure stocks 25 lap feature and Kevin Aube in the Niagara Auto Sales Pro Four Trucks 20 lap feature.

The 358 Modifieds end the first night of the All Canadian show. Larry Lampman and Matt Williamson leading the machines down to the green. Lampman is quick on the gas taking the lead. Dust flies and motors grind the war for position is on. Lampman shows his machine through the dust with a close half a track lead on the fighting pack behind, as a yellow waves on lap twelve, slowing the cars and closing the gap.

Lampman once again takes the lead, and runs with it. However through the dust it’s noticed that Stewart Friesen is on the move working his way through the dust and the cars, overtaking the field and second position. He sets his eyes on the Lampman machine as the yellow waves on lap twenty four. Lampman and Friesen come down to the green, its Friesen taking the lead working the high side. While Pete Bicknell works his way through the battle taking third as the yellow waves on lap thirty.

It’s a single file restart with Friesen on the pole. Friesen brings the pack to the green and resumes his lead. Bicknell on the move takes second and sets his eyes on Friesen. Slowing the cars on lap forty seven, the last yellow of the night. Friesen takes the green and the restart, regaining the lead with three to go. Bicknell runs out of laps and Friesen takes the checkers for the win. Claiming the All Canadian title. Coming home second through fifth were Pete Bicknell, Scott Wood, Larry Lampman and Matt Williamson.

The nights action began as the micro sprints, take to the track. Its Tyler Walker and Jim Lafler coming down to take the green. The two battle door to door as the pack files out and in to a single file game of chase the leader. Walker grabs the lead coming out of turns one and two. Making for a single line race around the track surface. Coming under the checkers is fourteen year old Tyler Walker, followed by Jim Lafler, 7, Kenny Wills, 7f and Tommy Walker.

Brad Booker and Aaron Vasas bring out the pack of pure stocks for the feature event of the night. The green drops and Vasas is quick to take the lead. Leaving booker riding in the second sitting position. Card through the pack bump and bang around the oval. Yellow flies on lap two. Cars and drivers regroup, as the yellow turns into a red, as drivers need medical attation. Track crews get it done, and the show is on the way with Aaron Vasas taking the lead on the restart and Terry Ronning moving into second position. Jason Coutu holding a strong third running spot, get lose opening the for Sam Iftody to move in on the position. The second yellow of the night flies on lap six, slowing the pack and give the dust a chance to settle. It’s the 104 machine of Terry Wilson resting on the rail in turns three and four untouched. He rejoins the pack and were going green, once more. Vasas takes over where he left off, As Ronning come knocking on the door for the position, drivers battle for position as the reach lap traffic. Ronning slides up high giving the lead back to Vasas, Ronning recovers and resumes the hunt for the win. The race comes to an end with Aaron Vasas leading Terry Ronning, Sam Iftody, Jon Vineski and Mike Green to the flying checkers.

Trucks take to the track, ready for their feature event. Kevin Aube and Mike Toovey bring the pack of trucks to the green. Aube on the charge takes the lead, drivers play a game of tag and Aube opens car lengths on the pack of trucks. Aube still running hard makes his way into lap traffic, weaving in and furthering his lead. Checkers wave over a pretty straight forward race. Kevin Aube takes his 10th win of the season, as Mike Toovey, Andy Imbeaute, Scott Sherk, and Billy Beales claims the second, third, forth, and fifth positions.

Racing includes Mini Stock, Brian's Tire Street Stock, 50 Lap DIRTcar Sportsman, ODLM Late Models, Plus All Day Excitement with The Molson Tent, Live Bands and Fireworks Display. Driver intro and Draw on Stage for Time Trials starting at 2 p.m. Time Trials at 5 p.m. and racing starting at 7 p.m. sharp.
