Panunte Holds Off Hard Charging Rouse for Win.

Port Colborne Ontario, July 19, Toffolo Enterprise enjoyed a night of action packed racing as Greg Panunte out powers Brad Rouse for another win of the season in the Cosco Haulage Sportsman twenty five lap feature. It was a battle of battles for Rouse and Panunte. Battling the last few laps, door panel to door panel. Rouse sees his chance and dives down to the inside of Panunte with two to go. The race ended too short for Rouse, as Panunte was able to over power the hard charge of the 18R machine of Brad Rouse to take the checkers.



Other feature winners of the night were Brad Booker in the Weekend Warrior Pure Stocks 15 lap feature, Mat Williamson in the Vintage Racers 15 lap feature, Paul Klager in the Modern Corporation Open Wheel Lites 20 lap feature and Brad Sheehan in the Brian’s Tire Repair Street Stocks 20 lap feature. The Pro Four Trucks and The Turn Four Mini Stocks had the night off and will return to the program next weekend.



The Cosco Haulage Sportsman hit the track for their twenty five lap feature, with Jeff Armstrong and Darrell Farraway, leading the pack down to the green. Armstrong is quick to take the lead as cars come together coming out of turns one and two, bringing out the yellow. Drivers regroup and take the green. It’s Armstrong and Farrraway leading down to the green once more. Farraway takes the lead, as drivers behind him battle it out for sitting position. B.J. Willard and Mark Dixon find safe running spots in second and third. The dust falls and on the move is Greg Panunte working his machine on the outside, fighting for second position. Winning second position, he now has his eyes on Farraway and the lead position. Panunte challenges for the lead, wins and walks away with it. However, on the move behind is Brad Rouse, also with his eye on the lead position. Rouse works his way up to fourth, slowing only when the yellow waves. Panunte and Farraway, collect the pack and come down for the restart. Panunte starts where he left off, leading, Rouse comes up stealing third and second position. Rouse sets his eyes on Panunte. As he works on closing the gap, Tyler Mcpherson and B.J. Willard fight for third position. McPherson on the high side, B.J. down low battle it out. McPherson takes third as B.J. settles and holds onto third position. White flag waves, as Rouse dives down to the inside giving a good battle, but runs out of time as Panunte reaches the checkers first, Beating the hard charge of Rouse. Top five feature winners were, Greg Panunte, Brad Rouse, Tyler McPherson, B.J. Willard and Paul Gaboury.



The Weekend Warrior Pure Stocks take to the track for their fifteen lap feature, with Mike Greene and Terry Ronning leading the field. The green waves setting the pack loose and they bump and bang for position. Greene and Ronning take the lead side by side, Brad Booker moves in, making for three wide racing. Greene lets out and takes third as Booker and Ronning challenge each other for the lead. Booker takes it, as Aaron Vasas works his way up and into a battle for second position. The field behind still bumping and banging as drivers try to find a running position. Yellow waves at lap five. Cars and drivers regroup with Booker and Vasas sitting in first and second positions. Booker retakes the lead by a few car lengths. It’s not until lap eleven when Vasas closes the gap and is able to challenge Booker for the lead. The yellow waves, for Jackie Giancola, as her right rear takes flight off of turns three and four. Track crews do their thing and we’re going green once more. Booker comes down and is quick to take the green with Vasas and the pack trailing. With four to go Vasas makes a move on the inside. Challenging one another for the lead, car number to car number, Vasas runs out of time as Booker throws down the hammer for the win. Aaron Vasas finishes second, with Mike Greene, Jon Vineski and Dave Laroque bringing home top five finishes.



This week, New Generation Engines, put up the money for the dash for cash in the Brian’s Tire Repair Street Stock division. Four drivers, four laps are set to go. Shayne Pierce, Bill Hogue, Billy Bleich Jr. and Rob Murray come to the track to battle for the seventy five dollar cash prize. Pierce and Hogue lead Bleich and Murray down to the green. Bleich blows a transmission leaving the three to battle it out. Pierce and Hogue fight for the lead, car number to car number. Coming down to the checkers, its Hogue grabbing the win and the cash over pierce by a nose, followed by Murray to take home.



Out next were the Vintage cars with Al Harju and Jim Atkinson leading the antique cars down to the start. Harju takes the lead, and breaks free from the thinning pack making a single file race. Mat Williamson moves out of line taking over the second position bringing Pat Sonnenberg with him for third. Williamson reels in Harju and pulls up offering a fight for the lead. Harju accepts the offer as they get into lap traffic. With three to go, Williamson dives low taking the lead coming out of turn four. Williamson is able to hold the lead to take the checkers as Al Harju, Pat Sonnenberg, Brian Page and Jamie Swain bring home second to fifth positions.



Modern Corporation Open Wheel Llites joined fans and drivers at Humberstone Speedway this week as Paul Klager and Shawn Sliter bring the visitors down to the green. Klager jumps into the lead as Sliter keeps the pace and challenges him for the lead, however, yellow files on lap ten bringing the battle to an end. Klager and Sliter come down for the restart the drivers adjust for position as Klager wins the fight for first over Sliter. Cars come together in turns one and two, bringing out the yellow on lap thirteen. Drivers refocus and regroup for a single file restart. Green drops and Klager kicks it into gear retaking the lead. Jamie Gilbert moves to the high side winning the fight for third coming out of turns one and two. Drivers run out of time to catch the flying machine of Paul Klager, as he picks up his first win at Humberstone Speedway this season. Taking second to fifth positions were, Shawn Sliter, Jamie Gilbert, Adam Leslie and Cory Howe.



Pat Thompson and Berry Beck lead the Brian’s Tire Repair Street Stocks onto the clay surface for their twenty lap feature event. Thompson pulls into the lead as Beck and Brad Sheehan claims second and third, as the yellow waves on lap two. Thompson and Beck recollect the pack and come down to the green. Beck pulls out for the lead as Sheehan and Shayne Pierce are on the pursuit to gain second and third positions. Yellow waves as drivers slow and regroup. Beck back in the lead when the green waves, Pierce working the outside, catches and passes Sheehan for second. With seven to go Pierce, grabs the lead and runs with it. Five to go and Jason Fontaine appears through the dust to battle Pierce for the first place position. Leaders battling tires to tires coming out of turn four, as they get together, opening the door for Brad Sheehan to capture the win. While Pierce and Fontaine cross the line with their noses attached. Top five positions were given to, Rob Murray, Jaren Israel, Shayne Pierce and Jason Fontaine.
