Stock Rules
DISCLAIMER:
REGULATIONS
They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport.
The tech inspector(s) shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviations of these rules is left to the discretion of the chief tech. official. HIS DISCRETION IS FINAL.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPETITOR TO OBTAIN AND BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE CURRENT RULES PERTAINING TO THIS DIVISION!!
The 4 cyl. Mini stock class is a beginner class treat it as one
It is the responsibility of each competitor to read, understand and comply with these rules. These rules are neither foolproof nor exhaustive. The spirit and intent of these rules are the standard that will be used for competition at New Humberstone Speedway. NHS officials are authorized to decide if an equipment change or additions an attempt to circumvent these rules or provide an unfair advantage. NHS can and will disqualify any entry in violation of the spirit and intent of these rules. Decision will be based on common sense, consistency, impartiality and fairness. If there is a disagreement or dispute regarding the meaning, interpretation, or application of these rules, NHS chief tech official decisions shall prevail. If these rules do not specifically say that you can add, change, or modify something, then you should consider that addition, change or modification illegal. Any questions about legality of such changes not covered by these rules must be answered by NHS chief inspector, and their decision is final.
Any participant who refuses to allow tech. officials to inspect their car will be subject to the following: Any competitor who fails to follow the inspection instructions by tech. officials will be disqualified from this event and points and money from the event. For Handicap purpose, you will be credited with a feature win. Note any parts asked to be removed from vehicle being teched must be done by cars owner, driver or crew member the track officials will not remove anything. If you refuse, your points and money for that event will be revoked and you will be disqualified. Refuse a second time through the season and your total points for the season will be revoked and your money for this event not paid to you. You will be credited with a win for handicapping purposes. These actions will be at the chief techs discretion.
HERE IS HOW WE ARE GOING TO DO IT
NHS reserves the right to add any amount of weight required to any location, or install a rev limiter on any car deemed to be too fast in order to keep this class competitive and fun. All weight to be supplied and installed by car owner. Rev limiters will be supplied by the track and there will be a slight rental charge to the car owner. We are testing with them right now with a G .M .Engine designer and other tracks who have this in place already. Anyone caught tampering with these weights or rev limiters will lose points and money for that race. Get caught a second time you will lose points and money for that race and points for the year to date at the chief tech’s discretion. The same applies to anyone getting coughing with illegal cars in any form or fashion.
MINI STOCK COMPETING MODELS
Open to 1996 and older approved 4 cylinder automobiles having a factory listed wheelbase of no more than 105 inches and an engine no larger than 2500cc. Cars may be front or rear wheel drive.
NOT ALLOWED: CONVERTABLES, FOUR OR ALL WHEEL DRIVES OR TRUCKS PORSCHE, BMW, AUDI, SAAB, TURBO OR SUPERCHARGED ENGINES, TWIN OVERHEAD CAM OR 16 VALVE ENGINES VARIABLE VALVE TIMING OR ROTARY ENGINES, NO MID OR REAR ENGINE CARS, NO STATION WAGONS, NO PEUGEOT , SUBARU, TRIUMPH , VOLVO, MERCEDES, NO 2 SEATERS.
Call and ask before starting to build any car. We will consider them.
The word stock when used herein, shall mean unaltered, as factory available and produced by the O.E.M. (original equipment manufacturer) for the make model and year of the car being raced. That excludes all manufacturer and aftermarket high performance parts. All decisions shall be based on data obtained from the CANADIAN SERVICE DATA BOOK AND OTHERS.
THE BAD NEWS
REMEMBER STOCK IS STOCK AND WILL BE TECHED!
Any car being teched will be allowed one driver and one pit crew or mechanic present in the tech area. NO ONE ELSE WILL BE ALLOWED!!
Any harassment from any driver, crew or mechanic to the tech staff or any other track official WILL result in automatic disqualification, thus forfeiting all points and money earned that race.
TECHNICAL SPECIFCATIONS
ENGINES:
1. Three or four cylinders engines only, must be stock for make, model and year
2. Track Management has the right to make a weight rule or change any rule to equal out the competitions
3. Engines no larger than 2.5 litre (2500 cc.)
4. No rotary or four valve engines
5. No dual over head cams
6. 1 Spark plug per cylinder only, no 8 plug heads allowed.
7. Must have stock firing order
8. No performance parts of any kind allowed
9. No engine modifications to enhance performance are allowed
10. No interchanging of engine parts, ( Cylinder head must be the same year and size of block )
11. No porting or polishing allowed
12. Valve size must be stock for that engine
13. No head work or customizing! Milling of head .030 allowed,
14. Maximum .040 cylinder overbore
15. Camshaft must be stock or stock replacement (stock lift and duration) for engine being used. No performance camshafts .2.3 Ford OHC maximum. 2437 lobe .400 valve lift
16. Only hydraulic Valve Train allowed.
17. Cranking compression must not exceed 190 lbs on any cylinder NO EXCEPTIONS!
18. No after market or performance ignitions allowed. Must remain stock. No aftermarket chips allowed.
19. No mass air modifications. Must remain stock
20. No intake modification. Must remain stock
21. Engine size must be placed on the hood in CC or CID
22. Must remain stock stroke
23. Must have stock pulleys.
CARBURETOR:
1. Carburetor must be an OEM type. Maximum stock 2 barrel with no alterations unless noted.
2. Choke plate may be removed
3. Jets may be changed
4. You may plug any unused vacuum ports
5. Carburetor must bolt to the intake manifold, factory 1 “
Adapter and max 1 1/8 “including gaskets.
6. Electric fuel pumps allowed with inertia or oil pressure switch
FUEL INJECTION :
1. Fuel injection and electric fuel pumps are allowed if equipped as stock
2. A matched intake and carburetor set-up with no modifications
3. Electric fuel pump must have inertia or oil pressure shut off switch to shut off fuel pressure in the event of an accident
4. Stock injectors only allowed. No high volume allowed
5. MFI or 1 fuel injectors per cylinder, Mustang cars must run a handicap weight or 100 lbs safely mounted to the frame or cage
6. Must have a fuel shut off. Clearly labeled on/off.
FUEL SYSTEM:
1. Fuel cells MANDATORY and securely fastened in the trunk and vented. No sloppy installations
2. Fuel cell filler neck must be grounded to the car
3. Fill spout to be located inside truck
4. No aluminum tanks
5. Full firewall required between driver’s compartment and trunk area
6. Pump gas only. 94 Octane maximum
COOLING SYSTEM:
1. Aluminum radiators with plastic tanks allowed for any year make model and style of car from manufacturer only in stock location
2. No aftermarket radiators, aluminum racing or performance radiators
3. Cooling system is to be filled with water only.
EXHAUST:
1. Stock cast iron exhaust manifold only
2. Exhaust must exit behind drivers door securely fastened
3. No part of the exhaust allowed in the driver compartment
4. Maximum 2 ½ “ OD. Exhaust pipe
5. Headers are not permitted
6. Stock or stock replacement mufflers are allowed
BODIES:
1. Complete stock for original design of make, model and year. No alterations, No ground effects or hood scoops.
2. Floorboard covering such as carpeting, door panels, headliners, and insulation must be removed.
3. All holes in floor and firewall must be filled, patched with 18 gauge sheet metal
4. Rear seat must be removed
5. Hood, roof, doors and trunk lid may be gutted no other panels
6. All doors must be welded or bolted shut
7. Side scrub rails allowed and must be rectangular tube (1 “ x 2” ends beveled tight to body)
8. Frame connectors are allowed.
9. Front fenders side panels, rear quarter side panels and doors may be of 18 gauge sheet metal and must remain in as stock shape as possible. This will be at chief tech’s discretion.
APPEARANCE & NUMBERING:
1. Car body should appear stock
2. The body must be mounted in the original factory location in relation to the frame
3. No chopping, channeling, or changing original bodylines
4. Stock dimensions of windshield pillars must be retained. Windshield pillar and angel of windshield must remain stock
5. All glass must be removed. Windshields must be removed and replaced with full screening ( one inch square maximum )
6. Headlight, parking, and taillights must be removed and neatly covered
7. All hood and truck must be in stock position and properly sealed from drivers compartment
8. All hoods and trunks must be securely fastened
9. No hood scoops or bowing of hood for air filter
10. No holes in hood for air cleaner
11. All cars to be adequately numbered with 18’’ high numbers on both sides, roof and rear deck for scoring purposes. No duplicate numbers
12. Cars must be neatly painted and lettered
13. TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR RACECAR AND OPERATION
BUMPERS:
1. Bumpers must be securely mounted at 16’’ centre to ground. Fabricated bumpers allowed but must have a stock appearing cover and must be approved by officials
2. Tow hook must be installed one on the front and one on the rear of the car for towing purposes
3. All bumpers must have 2 short chains welded from frame to steel bumper or rebar bumper to secure the bumper from being torn off. At least 6” from each end
FIREWALL:
1. Front and rear firewalls must remain stock and all holes patching using 18 gauge Min steel
2. No aluminum allowed
3. Car must retain stock firewall and stock floorboards in original location
FRAMES & SUSPENSION:
1. All frames must retain all factory stock specifications and dimensions for make and model from front to rear
2. Rusted areas may be reinforced for safety
3. Rear frame rails may be reinforced but mounting hardware for springs must remain exact factory stock location
4. One stock appearing steel shock mounted in stock location per wheel
5. Front and rear suspension must be stock dimensions
6. Aftermarket bushings are allowed, except for eccentrics.
7. No racing shocks or racing springs
STEERING:
1. Stock steering for the make and model. No modifications allowed
2. No steering quickners allowed
3. Steering wheel quick release allowed
4. Center must be padded
5. Must have collapsible steering column
REAREND, TRANSMISSION, CLUTCHES & FLYWHEELS:
1. Any stock transmission for make, model. No modifications allowed
2. All gears must be in working order
3. Must have one safety hoop 2’’ x ¼ within 6’’ of the front and rear of drive shaft
4. Driveshaft must be painted white with car # clearly marked
5. Locking of rear ends or differentials allowed
6. Stock unaltered rear end for that make, model and year. Must remain square in car
7. Clutch pedal must remain stock for make, model and year
8. No cutting of flywheel to lighten
9. No aluminum flywheels
10. No lightened or performance clutches or pressure plates
WHEELS, TIRE & BRAKES
1. Steel wheels only with stock offset. No aluminum wheels, no mag wheels, no wire spoke wheels
2. Maximum width of six inches. ( Measured inside of bead to inside of bead)
3. Must use 1’’ lug nuts. ½ stud recommended
4. Wheel spacers are not permitted
5. Any DOT street legal tire permitted. No mud, snow, ice or off-road tired allowed no race tired. All marking, name, numbers must not be removed if so the tire will be illegal
6. Stock brake system for make, model and year. All brakes must function at all times, no adjustable brake bias, and no after market proportioning valves
7. Brake pedal must remain stock for make, model and year
ROLL BARS:
1. A minimum six point roll cage is required. Minimum 1 ½’’ diameter OD. Minimum thickness. 120’’ wall or 1 ¾ x .095 is recommended
2. Must have minimum of four side door bars on the drivers side and two on the passenger side is recommended
3. Front and rear hoop allowed in front of rad and behind fuel cell and must be concealed behind sheet metal and stock bumpers
4. Galvanized, aluminum or exhaust type tubing is not permitted
5. Approved padding must be used at any point where driver contact might occur
WEIGHTS:
1. Added weight must be securely mounted with minimum two ½’’ bolts, weight must be painted white with car number
2. Cars must weigh 1 pound per CC but never less than 1900lbs. Plus any handicap with driver at any time
3. Mustang, Capri, VW Rabbit, Golf, Jetta, Nissan Sentra 2500 lbs minimum
4. Chevettes 1900 lbs minimum
5. Nissan Stanza 2.4 ltr 3100 lbs minimum
6. All cars must have CC and ruled weight displayed on hood for convenient tech and scaling
SEATS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT:
For all the safety equipment : it will be the sole responsibility of the driver, not NHS, their agent’s/officials or corporate officers to ensure that his/her safety equipment is correctly installed, maintained and properly used. Please refer to manufacturer installation and usage guideline and adhere to them.
1. Aluminum professionally built racing seat required. No fiberglass seat allowed
2. Seat must be securely fastened in six spots, four on bottom and two on seat back
3. Seat must be securely fastened to frame and cage
4. No floorboard installations allowed
5. A five point safety harness, with a 3’’ wide lap belt, 3’’ shoulder belts, and a 2’’ submarine belt. All belts shall be securely fastened to the frame or roll cage with high quality bolts, not less than 7/16’’ in diameter. ½’’ recommended.
6. Safety harnesses/ seat belts must be 2003 or newer
7. No frayed or torn belts
8. Entrants must wear a proper fitting full faced helmet rated SNELL 2000 or higher with proper identification and have no signs of previous damage
9. Helmet must be worn at all times when driver is in vehicle
10. Window net mandatory. Minimum 1’’ mesh with release at top only. It is required that all window net released be updated to the quick release seat belt type with releases located and facing the outside of the car
11. Entrants must wear a SFI 3.2.A -1 or better fire retardant racing suit
12. Fire proof gloves, footwear, underwear, head sock recommended
13. All bars and sharp contact areas around driver must be padded with roll bar padding
14. All cars will be required to have in their pit area a fire extinguisher capable of extinguishing gas and oil fires. This is to be visible to made aware of its location, and knowledgeable
In the use of the fire extinguisher.
It is mandatory to have a one way radio.
INSPECTION
1. All new cars must arrive at the track one hour prior to start time and report to the tech inspector
2. If car does not meet our rules they will not be able to compete. No exceptions.
3. All cars are subject to inspection by New Humberstone Speedway officials at any time and in any manner determined by track officials. All decisions regarding the timing and manner of the inspections, as well as which cars will be inspected, are final.
Participants must be a member of the new Humberstone speedway to receive any point fund money awarded
